Lucy Harding | Textiles & Ceramics

DSC_0019

Following on from my earlier post on Leah Fletcher, I introduce……. Lucy Harding.

Lucy is also a recent graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Contemporary Craft course and makes no.2 in my ‘special breed of six’ from this now deceased degree course. Her work focuses on the ‘Milk Round’, as she works as a milk girl on her families dairy farm. Creating up-cycled and new ceramics which feature prints of her door step illustrations also textile cosies, wall pieces and aprons. Lucy’s work captures an almost forgotten service as the majority of people now use the supermarkets to purchase their milk.

At her degree show Lucy won the Royal Exchange Craft Shop Award, which is a group exhibition in the Royal Exchange Craft Shop in 2012 and the Smithy Studios Graduate Award, a 3 month residency and showcase for her Graduate Collection in the Glossop Studios. I absolutely love her upcycled jugs and tea sets which you can see here on her blog.
